About 350 deaths per year are caused by people going up the wrong way on a highway exit. They do this because they are drunk or sleepy, and they usually do it at night. Existing solutions to this problem include wrong way signs and reflectors that reflect red when someone is going the wrong way. My solution is a rumble strip except it only make a horrible noise when you go the wrong way. If you go the right way the strips go down under your tires and barely make noise at all. If you go the wrong way the plate stick up and your tire will go thud and your car will bump really hard. The existing solutions only use the sense of sight. My solution uses sight, sound, and feeling to wake up the sleepy driver.
